Many small businesses sold on the threat of being left out of the ‘new economy’ hurried to build an on-line presence. Many times these businesses were promised the world and were left with mediocre implementations. These sites were not only far less successful than promised, they often were difficult to maintain and update. Perhaps, more important, these sites failed to present a successful business image the company had worked so hard to develop.

Brad Schafer owner and founder of the Schafer Group knew there was a better alternative. Brad had the opportunity to work with some of the top internet marketing teams while at Shop.com (Catalog City at the time).

The  answer was in their 'design'. Making the companies look great was the secret sauce.  So he designed site after site from the ground up.

It was obvious at this point; what was needed was common business framework built using best practices. An open source solution was found, modified and optimized for small business that solution is now referred to as NUCLEAtm

With a basic framework to work from the issue quickly shifted to having a unique look while operating on a 'common framework' (no more cookie-cutter templates). This critical component was realized in short time by the introduction of a framework 'skin'.

Finaly websites could be built with the ability to seperate the 'look' of the site from the business of the site.

Now for the first time businesses could integrate 'standardized best practices' software into their own brand.

NUCLEAtm was born. NUCLEAtm in short is: "a hosted, branded, best practices, internet small business solution".

It is also the backbone of The Schafer Group offering.

It was from that humble base that the Schafer Group began to expand its service offering into other critical small business needs; mainly 'lead generation', and 'brand building'. Which brings us up to the current offferings, represented in our Services section.
